Scoring Session Overview
To complete a scoring session, you will be viewing and issuing numerical scores to a selection of artifacts that have been assigned to you (1). After evaluating an artifact, you will use a rubric to assign scores across multiple dimensions. Your scores for a given artifact will be automatically saved as you enter them, and will display in the grid on your dashboard (2) until you submit them. Once submitted, the individual artifact will be removed from the list.
Before you begin scoring, you should confirm that you are in the correct Project (3) and Scoring Session (4). If you have access to another Project and/or Scoring Session, you can access it using the dropdown arrows. The bar at the top of your dashboard shows your scoring progress for the session. The dark blue indicates the percentage of artifacts which you have submitted scores for, while the lighter blue indicates the percentage of artifacts you have scored but not yet submitted. The gray indicates the percentage of artifacts you have not yet scored. You can hover your mouse over the bar to see the total number of artifacts you have scored.
Scoring an Artifact
To begin scoring, click the ID of an artifact from the list.
Upon clicking the artifact ID, you will arrive at a PDF of the artifact. On the right side of the screen, you will find the rubric, with fields to enter your scores for the specified dimensions. To expand the full rubric, click the blue arrow at the top right (1).
You will see the full rubric, including descriptions (2), which you can use as a reference while entering your scores. For each outcome or dimension, enter a numerical score (whole numbers only) into the provided field (3). You can add a comment along with the numerical score by clicking the text bubble icon to the right of the scoring field (4), and then entering your comment in the Comment box and clicking Submit (5). Please note: It is possible to give a score of zero for a particular dimension, but you must enter a comment before you will be able to submit the score.
To collapse the Rubric, click the blue arrow once again.
If you’d like to download a copy of the artifact, you can do so by expanding the grey Artifact button (6), and then selecting “Download Original File”. Please Destroy the file you have downloaded immediately after scoring it.
When you are finished scoring the artifact, simply click Submit (7). You will be taken to the next artifact to score. The submitted artifact will be removed from your assigned list of artifacts.
The scores you enter will be automatically saved, so if you would like to finish scoring the artifact at a later time, simply click Close (8) to return to your dashboard, or Next Artifact (9) to begin scoring the next artifact in the queue.
You must enter a score or a comment for each dimension before submitting. Attempting to submit before all scores have been entered will result in the following notification:
Unscorable Artifacts
If you select an artifact and find that it is illegible or otherwise compromised in a way that prevents you from properly assessing it and assigning a score, please contact the AAC&U support team at valueinstitute@aacu.org.
